I love sharing my specialism with all people, young and old. I have presented at international academic conferences and lectured at universities across the UK, US, and Mexico — and I have brought the same material to primary and secondary school classrooms, museum programmes, and public audiences, including a Getty Research Institute summer workshop for K-12 educators on teaching the conquest of Mexico through Indigenous eyes.

Talk Topics

I deliver talks and workshops on a range of topics, including:

  • Aztec art, language, culture, and science — Nahua visual and material culture, pictorial manuscripts, and Indigenous knowledge systems
  • Spanish colonialism — the invasion of Mexico and how Indigenous communities resisted, adapted, and endured
  • Religious conflict — faith, conversion, and contested sacred spaces in colonial Mexico
  • Indigenous American traditions in comparison — Mesoamerican lifeways alongside European, African, and Asian traditions

Talks are tailored to the audience — from research seminars and keynotes to interactive sessions for school students. For a sample of my speaking style, see my recorded talks.
